The entrance seemed extravagant.
The main door a large revolving one
the side one a sequence of two
like an astronauts air lock
except requiring a key card for entering.
This begs the question, who are they keeping out?
thieves perhaps, after the computers?
to whom was the access being denied to a
building of knowledge and learning?
The thing with the library is you reach to doors
stressed beyond measure with another deadline
at biting and snapping at your heels
but once you enter, another story starts.
You don’t notice the pressure leave so
you’re unsure its sudden or fades away
but as you sit at slow PC listening to chatter and
the clicking if keyboards you know its gone.
Somehow its far from silent but quiet enough to
focus on the task you have at hand
For a room that holds so much stress of some
many its the most peaceful place on campus.
